Many public parks around Atlanta include free off-leash dog areas. Dog parks provide many benefits for both the dog and owner; they are great for exercising, socializing, and getting fresh air.

Newtown Park
Address: 3150 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, GA 30022
There are three separate enclosures at this suburban community park—one for large dogs, one for small dogs, and another combined area.
Off-leash areas: The “Dream Dog Park” has separate large and small dog enclosures.
- Setting – As a contest winner, these enclosures were designed and built by Beneful dog food company.
- Shade – Surrounding mature trees provide some shade.
- Ground Type – Mostly artificial grass with a small section of mulch landscaping
- Seating – There is ample seating, some with covered awnings. Covered bone-themed picnic tables are in the back corner of the large dog area.

- Water play with sprinklers and a spraying hydrant
- Bridge, barrels, rocks, and hoop jump

Wildwood Park
Address: 1050 Barclay Cir, Marietta, GA 30060
There are two separate enclosures for large and small dogs.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – In the woods with lots of mature trees
- Shade – Ample
- Ground Type – Dirt and grass
- Seating – A few scattered benches
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
Park Pointers:
- No water fountains for humans or pets, so make sure to bring water.
- The only bathroom available is a porta-potty.
- There is a 1-mile gravel loop and additional trails to walk or run with your dog while on a leash.
This park lacks dog water fountains, so make sure to bring water with you.
Piedmont Park
Address: 1320 Monroe Drive, Atlanta, GA 30306
There are two separate enclosures for large and small dogs encompassing 3 acres.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – A large inner-city park. However, the bordering Six Springs Wetlands and other surrounding trees feel like you are not in the city.
- Shade – Sparsely shaded throughout the enclosures
- Ground Type – Wood chips and dirt
- Seating – A few scattered benches and large rocks
Dog Amenities:
- Water spigots inside the enclosures.
- Dog agility equipment such as a ramp, barrel, and hoop jumps (only in the large dog area).
- Organized large rocks and boulders designed for pup play.
- Waste stations
Park Pointers:
- Bathrooms are located just outside the enclosures.
- Some days you can find King of Pops selling doggie popsicles.
- The park features miles of paved pathways to walk or run with your dog while on a leash.
- This park offers a public Wi-Fi hotspot.
This long linear park is excellent for playing fetch. If you haven’t tried a ball thrower, you need to. It will increase your throwing distance, and you can avoid having to pick up slobbery balls with your hands.
Swift-Cantrell Park
Address: 3140 Old 41 Hwy NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144
Frank Boone Dog park has two separate enclosures for large and small dogs encompassing 1.4 acres.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – Large suburban community park
- Shade – Little shade
- Ground Type – Grass and dirt with a gravel area at each entrance
- Seating – There are a few benches and a picnic table.
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
- Water fountains with a spigot
Park Pointers:
- The park features a 1-mile and a 0.5-mile asphalt pathway to walk or run with your dog while on a leash.
- There is a separate enclosure for scheduled agility training classes.
- This park offers a public Wi-Fi hotspot.

Lake Court Park
Address: 3500 Lake Dr. SE, Smyrna, GA 30082
There is one enclosure for all dog sizes.
Off-leash area:
- Setting – A neighborhood park
- Shade – Bordering and inside mature trees provide some shade to the dog park
- Ground Type – Grass and dirt
- Seating – Benches and a long retaining wall
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
- Water fountains
Park Pointers:
- There are a couple of lights within the enclosure.
- There are additional viewing benches overlooking the dog park outside of the enclosure.
- This park is next to the Smyrna recycling center. So drop off those recyclables on your way.
A flying squirrel is a perfect toy for this park with its wide-open space.
Lewis Park
Address: 475 Campbell Hill St NW, Marietta, GA 30060
There are two separate enclosures for large and small dogs.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – This neighborhood park repurposed its baseball outfield into a dog park.
- Shade – The only shade is from canopies that cover the picnic tables.
- Ground Type – Grass and dirt
- Seating – Benches and picnic tables with covered awnings
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
- Wash station
- Water fountains
Park Pointers:
- The larger parking lot on the corner of Radium St. and St. Joseph Way is closest to the dog areas.
- Stop by Sessions Stand coffee shop and grab a snack and a drink for the park. It’s one block down on the corner of Sessions St and Campbell Hill St.
The high fences and long linear dog enclosures at this park make it a great place to use this Chuck-it Kick Fetch Ball.
Brook Run Park
Address: 4770 N Peachtree Rd, Dunwoody, GA 30338
There are two separate enclosures for large and small dogs encompassing 2.5 acres.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – A community park; with a combination of open and wooded areas for the dogs.
- Shade – Ample shade within the wooded area of the enclosures.
- Ground Type – Gravel and dirt
- Seating – Multiple benches and retaining walls
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
- Water spigots
- Wash area
Park Pointers:
- You will find the dog areas on Brook Run’s west side along Georgia Way S.
- There is a parking lot next to the dog enclosures.
- The park features a 1.8-mile concrete pathway to walk or run with your dog while on a leash.
- Brook Run is also on the Dunwoody Trailway that connects to Pernoshal and Georgetown Parks.
Brook Run Park offers a nice dog wash area, so make sure to line your backseat with a seat cover after washing your dog down.
Burger Dog Park
Address: 680 Glendale Pl, Smyrna, GA 30080
There are two separate enclosures for large and small dogs.
Off-leash areas:
- Setting – A small neighborhood park
- Shade – Little shade around the perimeter of the enclosures provided by the surrounding trees
- Ground Type – Grass and dirt
- Seating – There is one bench inside each enclosure and two picnic tables immediately outside the entrance gates.
Dog Amenities:
- Waste stations
- Water fountains
Park Pointers:
- The only amenity at this park is the dog enclosures.
- Don’t forget your sunscreen, not a lot of shade.
- No bathrooms at this park, so plan accordingly.
